Elderflowers and berries have a storied history of use in traditional medicine. The flowers or berries of elder, used for their medicinal benefits, support immune health. Whole elderberries are most often prepared as teas, tinctures, syrups, and can be combined with propolis or echinacea. While the branches and leaves are poisonous, the small stem which is sometimes left on the berry is safe. Other uses for elderberries: making preserves, wines, winter cordials, and for adding flavor and color to other wines.
